Sarasota Military Academy Administration
As the headmaster of The Sarasota Military Academy, I am very proud to share the biographies of the incredible faculty and staff assembled for our school. They are people of unsurpassed quality and commitment. I hope you enjoy the time you spend examining these brief glimpses into the lives of the professionals who work with our cadets. We welcome your interest in SMA. Our every effort is devoted to making this an experience that will prepare each cadet for a lifetime of success! We could not have achieved accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and the designation as a U.S. Army Honor Unit with Distinction without the people whose outstanding achievements are detailed below.

Headmaster and Co-Founder
Welcome to the Sarasota Military Academy . To new SMA cadets, I offer a warm welcome to "your high school." Each year at SMA is packed full of activities and opportunities. This year will see an even greater array of available activities. Make every effort to become fully engaged in the high school experience by participating in extra-curricular events. Your four years of high school will go by quickly!
We will continue to emphasize critical thinking skills, reading, and writing. FCAT will move to end of course exams this year and we will be preparing for that change.
SMA is a college prep high school so most of our curriculum is geared for the college bound student. You will find numerous dual enrollment and Advanced Placement classes available. They are all challlenging and taught by remarkably talented teachers.
SMA has added the prestigious Advance Placement International Diploma Program (APID). In order to qualify for this advanced diploma, cadets must take a minimum of 5 AP classes. 93% of last year's graduates went on to college and we are confident that the APID will help our graduates attend the college of their choice.
hope you spend some time exploring the SMA website. There is a vast amount of information available. If you have questions, email me ar stop by. My door is always open and I willl look forward to speaking with you.

The greatest compliment that Sarasota Military Academy can receive is your interest in our outstanding school. At this moment, the greatest gift we can offer the young adults of today is a quality education at your fingertips. This is a school that strives for academic excellence and encourages today’s youth to become leaders. Leaders are those that represent individuals who see potential and take the risk to see a goal completed.
Sarasota Military Academy encourages students to be aware of people’s well being and attempts to move all students in a positive direction, whether academically, emotionally, or behaviorally. It is the whole student which is recognized. The use of positive reinforcement is an effective tool at SMA for changing behaviors into positive ones; students can engage in leadership positions, extracurricular activities, teacher aides and clubs to ensure the encouragement of personal growth. Sarasota Military Academy recognizes that each student is unique and offers an immeasurable amount of ideas.
Students must recognize that they are future leaders, not only at SMA, but also in the community, learning the skills to elevate people from any environment, condition, or circumstance to another by constantly aspiring for the greater common good. This will become a core value instilled within them. When this occurs, many followers will become empowered to become leaders and share the SMA vision with others. Students learn to communicate a clear educational goal that facilitates accomplishments, which naturally, followers will be attracted to those ideals. Without a doubt, visioning defines leadership; it is the core component to the process of a great school like Sarasota Military Academy!

Welcome to the Sarasota Military Academy! I am both eager and excited about working together to make sure your child has a successful experience in academic achievement and social and emotional well being.
I have a very diverse background in the education field as I taught math and science for eight years and served as Assistant Principal and Athletic Director both for two years in Murray, KY. I taught in the Sarasota School District for two years in both the math and science fields and served as Data Coach as well. I was honored to join SMA for the 2009-2010 school year as an Instructor of Integrated Science, Testing Coordinator, and as a Freshman Class Administrator. I will continue as the Testing Coordinator for the 2010-2011 school year and am assigned as the Sophomore Class Administrator.
As you can see, I am a life-long learner and look forward to learning more about our SMA community and being an active participant in your child’s success as well as SMA’s continued excellence.
