Beliefs
The highest standards of education, including clear goals and expectations for student achievement, guide classroom activities and curriculum development. Allocation of resources (human and fiscal) is aligned with the vision and the school's continuous improvement process. All students are challenged to learn--education and academic achievement are the chief priorities of our school. Each person is treated respectfully as a valued individual. Students, faculty and staff attend Daily Formation paying respect to the flag. Dressed in military uniform attire, students and faculty have an effective atmosphere for discipline and learning on our campus. Parental involvement is essential to the learning process and complements the efforts of educators and community members in our shared responsibility to provide a successful learning environment. Unique classes such as fencing, self defense, weight lifting, aviation, sailing, and equitation provide incentive for students to attend school and to enjoy the experience while developing diverse lifetime skills.
SMA prepares students for their future. The curriculum reflects the dynamic and expansive scope of knowledge of today's changing world. Students and teachers are provided access to the technology necessary to achieve academic goals and acquire the skills critical to success in today's global economy.
Volunteer service and knowledge of civic duties and responsibilities instill good citizenship and are an academic component of the Academy. Cultural diversity and tolerance toward the ideas and beliefs of others are cornerstones of American democracy and are modeled by teachers, staff, administrators, and students.
Established and clearly defined rules provide classroom structure and discipline and the best learning environment for students. Various instructional techniques employed in the classroom support the myriad of ways individuals learn, and students are provided assessment tools that fairly offer the opportunity to demonstrate success in learning.
